Arthur
Abadi is a sixteen year old resident of Orange County. He made his concert
debut with the Pacific Symphony when he was six years old
performing Mozart's Concerto No. 21 in C Major. Since then, he has appeared
with the U.S. Air Force Symphony in Washington, D.C., as well as several
appearances with the Orange County Chamber Orchestra, the Florida Philharmonic,
the Connecticut Orchestra, the Capistrano Valley Symphony, the San Diego
Festival Orchestra, the Tupelo Symphony, as well as in numerous recital
venues.
The
young Abadi was a guest artist in recital in 1998 with the prestigious
La Jolla Prodigy Series, in La Jolla, California. In 1999 Abadi appeared
as guest soloist with the Forida Philharmonic, playing Mendelssohn's Piano
Concerto No. 1 in G minor. The Miami Herald called Abadi "a prodigious
young artist with a brilliant future" and praised his performance of the
Mendelssohn, "It is rare that you will hear the second movement played
with such natural feeling for phrasing." He also appeared last summer with
the Connecticut Orchestra at "Summer Music" at Harkness, performing Gershwin's
Rhapsody in Blue before an audience of 10,000.
In
March 1999, Abadi made his first European tour, performing Moussorgsky's
"Pictures at an Exhibition" at the Budapest Spring Festival. This tour
also took him to Vienna and Prague, where he played at the Lichtenstein
Palace and a special appearance at the Jewish Community Center in Budapest.
Arthur recently recorded the Emperor concerto of Beethoven with the Moravian
Philharmonic.
His
numerous television appearances include CNN's Showbiz Today, CBS News,
A Current Affair, Crook and Chase and OCN. Arthur is a recent
recipient of a Young Musicians Foundation scholarship.
Abadi
began his studies with his father. He currently studies with Dr. Mark Sullivan,
and also travels to New York to study with the legendary pianist, Byron
Janis. Abadi is a Junior at the Orange County High School of the Arts in
Santa Ana. Arthur enjoys spending time with his twelve year old sister,
Nomi, also a pianist and an actress, and in his spare time enjoys going
to movies and playing video games with his friends. |
